How Long Will a Power Station Run My Appliances?

Pick your power station's capacity in watt-hours, add the appliances you want to run, and get an estimated runtime in hours. Every wattage below is a typical value you can edit - your device's label is the final word.

How the math works: usable energy = capacity (Wh) × inverter efficiency (85% default) and runtime = usable Wh ÷ total watts. No single number is exact - actual draw varies by model and settings - so treat results as planning estimates, not guarantees for any specific product.

1. Your power station

Most portable stations convert battery DC to AC at roughly 80-90% efficiency. Usable Wh: 850 Wh

2. Your appliances (typical watts - editable)

Per-appliance runtime on the right is for that appliance running alone. Wattages are typical values for common models, not measurements of any specific product.

These are typical mid-range values for common household models, used as the calculator's defaults. Check the label or manual of your own device for its exact rating - a large fridge or an old space heater can draw far more.

Common questions, answered with the same math

How long will a 1000Wh power station run a fridge?

With the standard 85% inverter-efficiency assumption, a 1000Wh station delivers about 850Wh of usable AC power. A refrigerator typically draws 150W, so the estimate is about 5.7 hours (5 h 40 min) of continuous runtime. (1000 x 0.85 / 150 = 5.67 hours.) A refrigerator's compressor cycles on and off, so in real use it typically runs noticeably longer than this continuous-draw estimate.

How long will a 2000Wh power station run a fridge?

With the standard 85% inverter-efficiency assumption, a 2000Wh station delivers about 1700Wh of usable AC power. A refrigerator typically draws 150W, so the estimate is about 11.3 hours (11 h 20 min) of continuous runtime. (2000 x 0.85 / 150 = 11.33 hours.)

How long will a 1000Wh power station run a CPAP?

With the standard 85% inverter-efficiency assumption, a 1000Wh station delivers about 850Wh of usable AC power. A CPAP machine typically draws 40W, so the estimate is about 21.3 hours (21 h 15 min) of continuous runtime. (1000 x 0.85 / 40 = 21.25 hours.) This is a power-capacity estimate only. A heated humidifier or heated tube raises a CPAP's draw well above 40W - check your machine's label.

How long will a 500Wh power station run a CPAP?

With the standard 85% inverter-efficiency assumption, a 500Wh station delivers about 425Wh of usable AC power. A CPAP machine typically draws 40W, so the estimate is about 10.6 hours (10 h 38 min) of continuous runtime. (500 x 0.85 / 40 = 10.62 hours.)

How long will a 1000Wh power station run a TV?

With the standard 85% inverter-efficiency assumption, a 1000Wh station delivers about 850Wh of usable AC power. A TV typically draws 100W, so the estimate is about 8.5 hours (8 h 30 min) of continuous runtime. (1000 x 0.85 / 100 = 8.50 hours.)

How long will a 500Wh power station run a laptop?

With the standard 85% inverter-efficiency assumption, a 500Wh station delivers about 425Wh of usable AC power. A laptop typically draws 65W, so the estimate is about 6.5 hours (6 h 32 min) of continuous runtime. (500 x 0.85 / 65 = 6.54 hours.)

How long will a 500Wh power station run a Wi-Fi router?

With the standard 85% inverter-efficiency assumption, a 500Wh station delivers about 425Wh of usable AC power. A Wi-Fi router typically draws 10W, so the estimate is about 42.5 hours (42 h 30 min) of continuous runtime. (500 x 0.85 / 10 = 42.50 hours.)

How long will a 300Wh power station run a phone charger?

With the standard 85% inverter-efficiency assumption, a 300Wh station delivers about 255Wh of usable AC power. A phone charger typically draws 15W, so the estimate is about 17.0 hours (17 h 00 min) of continuous runtime. (300 x 0.85 / 15 = 17.00 hours.)

How long will a 2000Wh power station run a window AC?

With the standard 85% inverter-efficiency assumption, a 2000Wh station delivers about 1700Wh of usable AC power. A window AC typically draws 1000W, so the estimate is about 1.7 hours (1 h 42 min) of continuous runtime. (2000 x 0.85 / 1000 = 1.70 hours.)

How long will a 1000Wh power station run a space heater?

With the standard 85% inverter-efficiency assumption, a 1000Wh station delivers about 850Wh of usable AC power. A space heater typically draws 1500W, so the estimate is about 34 minutes of continuous runtime. (1000 x 0.85 / 1500 = 0.57 hours.) Space heaters are among the heaviest loads a portable station can carry - runtime is short even on a large battery.

How long will a 2000Wh power station run a coffee maker?

With the standard 85% inverter-efficiency assumption, a 2000Wh station delivers about 1700Wh of usable AC power. A coffee maker typically draws 1200W, so the estimate is about 1.4 hours (1 h 25 min) of continuous runtime. (2000 x 0.85 / 1200 = 1.42 hours.)

How long will a 3000Wh power station run a washing machine?

With the standard 85% inverter-efficiency assumption, a 3000Wh station delivers about 2550Wh of usable AC power. A washing machine typically draws 500W, so the estimate is about 5.1 hours (5 h 06 min) of continuous runtime. (3000 x 0.85 / 500 = 5.10 hours.)

Why the estimate can differ from real life

Inverter losses. A station rated 1000Wh does not deliver 1000Wh of AC power; conversion typically keeps 80-90%, which is why the efficiency slider exists.

Cycling loads. Fridges, ACs and washing machines do not draw their rated watts continuously - compressors and motors cycle - so real runtime is often longer than the continuous-draw estimate. Space heaters and coffee makers, by contrast, really do pull near their rating the whole time they are on.

Battery reserve. Many stations keep a small reserve and report usable capacity conservatively; if your station lists a separate "usable" or AC-output capacity figure, type that in as the capacity instead.
